Privacy
We collect as little as we can and don't sell any of it.
What we keep
- Your email address, whether you're subscribed, your plan, and any saved searches.
- Billing records from Stripe: a customer ID and subscription status. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see them.
- Server logs: IP address, page and time, kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
- Email delivery events: whether a message bounced or was marked as spam, so we stop sending to addresses that don't want it.
What we don't do
No ad trackers, no third-party analytics, no selling or sharing your data. We use one cookie, to keep you signed in.
Who processes it
MongoDB Atlas (database), Amazon Web Services (hosting and email delivery), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (DNS and inbound email). Each handles data only to provide its service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep your account for as long as you have one, and delete it, along with your subscription and saved searches, within 30 days of a request. Stripe keeps billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are deleted after 30 days.
Where it's processed
Fresh Off Patent is run from the United States, and the providers above store data in the United States. If you subscribe from the EU or UK, we rely on your consent (the confirmation click) for the newsletter and on our contract with you for paid plans, and you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
The service isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. To see or delete everything we hold about you, email hello@freshoffpatent.com from that address and we'll do it within 30 days.
